Unnerving

I just had a class that was completely unnerving. I became completely flustered and we ended up ending the class early. The problem is that many of these students in this class are Finnish students. They are at our school for half of the time and then they are in Finland for the other half. It's sort of back and forth for three years and then they end up with two degrees. The bigger problem is that they are all really smart and apparently the Finnish school is really good, while our school sort of sucks administratively.

So I was in class describing something when they said, "It's like free-something." I can't even remember the term. I said, "What's that?" Then it devolved into this discussion about how I don't know all of the logistics terms and then some bitch opened the book and said, "It's right here." So it was in the chapter I was talking about. I didn't read the whole chapter. I feel like I'm barely keeping up without reading and memorizing a thousand new terms that I might use.

"How long did you work in logistics?" Someone asked. I never worked in logistics. "I'm sorry, but we have a marketing person teaching us law," someone else said.

The thing is that I know how they are here with getting teachers to teach classes. They are a little sloppy. Ideally, they would have someone who had worked in logistics teach logistics. But they don't have that. They have me.

At the time, we were talking about controlable and uncontrolable elements in business. I sighed and said, "Choice of school is controlable. Who you get to teach you logistics? Uncontrolable."

In the end, they said, "It's not you, it's the school. You're very nice." The thing is that "very nice" doesn't really cut it here. It's sort of how "you're so cute" started to sound sort of stale when I was in my early thirties. I want more. I would like to know these subjects and talk about them with some authority. I feel like I'm barely keeping up.

The good thing was that I let them know that it was a little disturbing to be attacked like that. It's amazing to me how each class has such a different way of being, a different approach to things. The class before them was a bit stiff and nothing, but they were a lot nicer. This class was just a horrible bunch of bitches. Doesn't speak well of the Finnish or people who have been heavily influenced by the Finnish.
