Getting Settled at the New School

I officially have two classes at the hogeschool. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm sort of curious about how it will go. I know that I'm going to be fine, but I need to read my book and it's not yet in the book shop.

There are so many things to do to get ready to be at this place for a while. I've sort of given up on the high school. It's a pity, but the commute (as I have said) is driving me crazy. So I'm approaching this job in a different way.

I picked up my coffee card today. It entitles me to as much of the cheap-ass, instant coffee that I can drink. I also ordered my books (the most important of which will be in tomorrow morning). And I am learning the system. It's nice to be here. I like the atmosphere. The big problem is that I don't yet have a place to sit. I would really like to have a desk and put a stapler on it and know that it's going to be there when I return. I would love to have a school provided phone. I would love to know that I'm going to be here for a while.

Yesterday, I spoke to a guy who is a "career changer" like me at the high school. He is doing the "further education" that I said I would start next year. I asked how long it was. He said that it was three years two nights a week for him, but that it was usually three or four nights a week. For three years? I believe my colleague here did her further education in six months.

This hogeschool job is a much better deal than the high school all the way around.
