Conflicted
I have just been given the opportunity to expand my career at the college. The promise of two new classes -- ten class hours -- has come to pass. However, it appears that an expansion in my career as a college lecturer (or, should I say, the beginning of my career as a college lecturer) might come at the expense of my beloved writing group.Of course, if I ask Hans his opinion, he will ask which is paying the bills, the new job or the voluteer writing group? But he also looks at me and can't understand why in the world I would think that I could teach a business class.
Remember, Gentle Reader, that I have an MBA, and I've taken these classes before. Hans says that with that logic a second grader is qualified to teach a first grader. Of course people here are often asked to teach classes they've never taken, subjects they have never studied. And you know what? If they are going to offer me this job, I'm going to take it!
I know what I'm going to do. But I'm still tremendously conflicted about it. I have to take this job. Politically at the college it's just too important.
I'm sort of bummed, sort of excited.
