GBC
When I worked at the hospital in Brooklyn, I eventually got a couple of gay friends. We at lunch together occasionally and talked and laughed. It was an exclusive club of three - the GBC, or Gay Boy Club. We didn't meet, or eat together, very often, but when we did, it was exclusively the three of us and we would laugh for the entire hour.
At my last company, I only knew of two other gay guys. One really strange guy in some really technical office and a consultant who I became friends with and then stopped being friends when it became apparent that it was either Hans or him.
Here at the school, I see three possibilities, none of them as fun or appealing as the original GBC, but then again, you can't go home.
Number One, David, reminds me of a friend from square dancing, sort of plain and monochromatic, but very friendly, welcoming and approachable. He's my favorite. He's also a new teacher, so we sing the New Teacher Blues together. He has a goatee, which I think is designed to cover the fact that he has no chin. Steve is a little bit older, probably mid-forties. Male pattern balding.
Number Two, Juan, is young, still in school and has a fresh quality about him. He also has a sort of lost quality. He's got these stupid blonde streaks through his hair, which is in a sort of hip, gelled up do. He's also got a tooth that is at a strange angle. He's the type of kid that could have benefited from braces. He talks about student housing and all of that. I find this less than appealing. He's so young. Very nice guy, but after we've talked for a little bit, it sort of peters out. It's sort of disappointing. I attribute it to his youth.
Number Three, Pierre, reminds me of one of those drag queens with a large beak-like nose and a chip on her shoulder. Rail thin and a flair for the dramatic. At the beginning of the school year, Pierre had wild blond streaks through his choppy-cut hair. It is now dyed back to something more natural. We've never actually spoken. He's not appealing because he seems like one of those people who could just turn on you. That, of course, is just that first impression thing I'm going on.
Of course I have no confirmation that any of these three are gay. I'm going completely on the vibe I've gotten from the interactions we've had. Juan may just be friendly and David may just be lonely. It's all speculation. I can't see this becoming a GBC. Jammer.
